On Mondays: Closed

The exhibitions of the Museum can be freely visited during the opening hours by purchasing an entry ticket.

Please note that tickets can only be purchased at the cash desk half an hour before closing.

RULES OF CHARGING A CONCESSIONAL ENTRY TICKET TO THE MUSEUM

 

Those individuals are eligited to charge concessional entry tickets (Concessional, I.category), who:

are citizens of a state, party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area,

  • are between the age of 6 and 26,
  • are above 62 years,
  • accompany at least 2 people, who are under 18, or are their close relatives (maximum 2 people) according to the Hungarian Civil Code,
  • receive a full old-age pension according to the law 1997. LXXXI. 18 § (2a) on social security retirement benefits,

and prove their eligibility at the cash desk during payment.

 

Those individuals are eligited to entry free (Concessional, II.category), who:

are citizens of a state, party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area,

-are under the age of 6,
- are disabled in accordance of the 1998. XXVI. law of disabled people’s rights and ensuring their equal oppurtinities, according to the 4. § a) point, are disabled (further named as disabled),
- accompany disabled people (maximum 1 person),
- own a professional entry ticket, issued by the Minister,
- are part of a national-wide public collection professional organization with at least 400 member,
- teacher, working in public education or in vocational education,
- are above 70 years,

furthermore, on all last Sundays of every month, if:
- are under the age of 26,
- accompany a person who is under 18, or are his/her close relatives (maximum 2 people) according to the Hungarian Civil Code,

and prove their eligibility at the cash desk during payment.

 

 

These concessions apply to the Museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions

If you visit with a group, in an organized manner and you can not prove your eligibility, then we can not validate concessions!

 

In the area of the Royal Castle Esztergom, tour guides can only happen within the framework of a partnership agreement, the registered permit of the Castle, and a tour-guider program-ticket!

 


On Hungarian National Days, everyone can visit the Museum for free
(March 15th, August 20th, October 23th).

Please, support the Castle Museum also on these days by charging a support ticket.

According to the Hungarian laws, it is compulsory for us to pay the tax of the normal entry ticket for the budget after every free ticket.

Thus, those, who are eligited to visit free but buy a support ticket even so, support the Museum double times!

Explore the Museum with Theo, the Castle’s little lion!

It is time for our youngest visitors to explore the Castle of the former Hungarian Kings!

You can borrow a bag, filled with everything that you will need during your journey, for example: headlight, magnifyig glass, compass, and of course, the adventure sheet, in which Theo, the Castle’s little lion guide you through this adventure with a lot of interesting task.

The game is approximately 1-1,5 hour.

Price: 950,- Ft/adventure bag

Deposit: 5 000,- Ft, that we give you back after you gave us back the bag and its belongings.

 

ATTENTION!

The Museum can only be visited on your own risk! Original, low-built stairs and narrow rooms are part of the Museum’s exhibition, during your visit please pay increased attention to your and other visitor’s safety.

Unfortunately the complete tour of the Museum is not barrier-free, only a small part of the Museum is accessible by wheel-chair or baby carriage.

In the exhibiton space of the Museum dogs or other animals are not allowed, but in the yard, they are welcome.

In the area of the Museum photo taking or video recording – WITHOUT FLASH – is allowed and free of charge.

For the preservation of the monumental environment and art relics, please leave your bigger bags/backpacks in the lockfast lockers (which can be found in the reception area) or keep in your hands during the visit.

THE MUSEUM MUST NOT BE VISITED if you are under the influence of alcohol, intoxicants or drugs, or if you are not properly dressed!
