King’s Road – oktober 8.
On Thursday, 8 October 2026, the Esztergom Castle will welcome special guests: the Fékomadta traditional heritage group from Zsámbék, who will travel on horseback along the historic route from Visegrád through Esztergom to Zsámbék. The Esztergom Castle will once again be an important stop on their journey.
The “Kings’ Road” is a historical journey organized by the Fékomadta heritage group. Its special character lies in the fact that the participants travel on horseback and on foot, wearing period costumes and using historically inspired equipment, bringing the atmosphere of the medieval world to life. In 2025, the group once again set out from Visegrád, travelling through Esztergom towards Zsámbék, with the participants recreating various aspects of medieval life.
On the evening of 8 October 2026, the group will arrive at Esztergom Castle, where they will make camp for the night. The riders will stay together with their horses in the Queen’s Garden, allowing the historic castle to take on a truly special atmosphere reminiscent of a medieval royal court.
The “Kings’ Road” is more than just a horseback journey: it creates a living connection between the medieval heritage of Visegrád, Esztergom and Zsámbék, bringing history to life not only through exhibitions and stories, but through a direct, tangible experience.
We are delighted to welcome the participants of the “Kings’ Road” to Esztergom Castle!
️Admission is free.
